#WIWT
#WIWT (what I wore today), performing objects, 2022, each 100 x 25 x 28 cm (before melting)
materials: 7 pieces of pre-owned, fast-fashion clothing, water
#WIWT (what I wore today) is a site-specific work developed for the exhibition “Transgression” at Volkspark am Weinberg in the heart of Berlin. The outdoor exhibition, initiated by me, dealt with issues of gentrification and crossing boundaries.
The objects are made of clear ice and incorporate pieces of fast-fashion clothing, they are performing objects living in the park for the 48 hours of the exhibition. They are creatures who tell us about the dissolution of borders, new blends of the human and non-human, of nature and culture.
In the end the biggest part of them disappears into the ecosystem. Both the textile remains and the slow pace in which the ice is melting play with the concept of “fast-fashion”.
