SWEET COSMIC CITY
SWEET COSMIC CITY (2023, ongoing) is a hybrid city-creature consisting of a large video projection and an installation of textiles. The work blurs the boundaries between the digital and the real, fragments of glitchy architectures from Hong Kong and Berlin are morphing, merging, networking in an endless embrace. In the video projection, scans with sharp-edged fragments of cityscapes are set in motion and are orbiting each other like speeding celestial bodies. Outer and inner worlds pulsate and liquefy.
In the fabric installation, each printed 3D-scan has a unique texture and glow to it, like the places and situations they were taken from.
They have raw hems that emphasize their openness, looseness and hang like clothes drying outside or like items commonly on display in city markets. Other layers of cityscapes and city-memories mix here.
SWEET COSMIC CITY It is a dreamlike non-binary Heimat, a work in progress where distant, familiar strangers come together in a post-pandemic, post-gentrified, post-colonial future.
