HOW LONG IS NOW, (2020)
is an explicit homage to Tacheles, a now gentrified symbol of Berlin's subculture since the 1990s. The title deliberately refers to the mural on the side of the building with the inscription "How long is now" which is now covered by the new buildings. The title also works as a very specific question, to which the performative installation offers unpredictable answers:
The work extends over an approximately 20-meter long narrow corridor. Numerous plastic bags are cut open at irregular intervals through performative interventions; slime (a brightly colored but sticky and polluting material) drips onto the floor at different times and speeds, making the passing through harder and harder. The result is an ensemble of uncoordinated hourglasses. They measure the length of "now", the passing of time.
