HOW LONG IS NOW
site-specific performative Installation, 2020,an homage to Kunsthaus Tacheles. Materials: different types of slime in plastic bags hanging and dripping from the ceiling, performative interventions
HOW LONG IS NOW is an explicit homage to Tacheles, a symbol of Berlin's subculture since the 1990s. The title deliberately references the former mural on the side of the building, which bore the inscription "How long is now," and functions as a very specific question to which the performative installation offers unpredictable answers.
The work spans an approximately 20-meter-long narrow corridor. Many plastic bags are cut open at irregular intervals through performative interventions, and slime (a brightly colored, sticky, polluting material) drips onto the floor at varying times and speeds, making passage progressively more difficult. The result is an ensemble of uncoordinated hourglasses, measuring the length of "now" and the passage of time.
